According the project tracker on SourceForge, we've passed the 1000'th download, which is pretty exciting. On that note, I would like to make some much-needed improvements. Currently I am working on a search feature for the SQLWhite frontend, since some domain administrators I've heard from have 10,000+ entries, and would like to manage those. I would like to take the opportunity to request feedback from users and see what features they would like to see added. Here are some that are already on my plate: * Search whitelist feature (in progress) * Enable and support password hashing * Business logic improvements (refactoring features into functions, better input filtering, db improvements, security stuff) * Package and release some useful helper scripts for migrations * Document a working method to integrate SpamAssassin with the Xerxes setup I encourage users to use the project tracker (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=186098) and request features as well as submit bugs. This will really provide focus to what needs to be worked on. As time goes on, I will be moving some Xerxes web services to Sourceforge (since it's free). -Amin -- Amin Astaneh Open Source Technology Consultant Direct- 813.421.AMIN http://aminastaneh.net From kreg at directcom.com Sun Jan 3 14:25:23 2010 From: kreg at directcom.com (kreg roenfeldt) Date: Sun Jan 3 14:36:22 2010 Subject: [xerxes-list] new year development In-Reply-To: <4B40E7A9.909@aminastaneh.net> References: <4B40E7A9.909@aminastaneh.net> Message-ID: <4B40EF23.2080608@directcom.com> +1 vote for supporting Crypt and other password encryption types. Kind of new idea.. A script or something that can compare the Cyrus database and the MySQL database. Would help in determining what mailboxes are orphaned, need deleting, or whatever. I often fix a mailbox manual, or try to migrate a system and in the process manage to make a mess. Cleanliness thing for us weird compulsive people. Pleased to hear from you! -=Kreg Amin Astaneh wrote: > Fellow Xerxes users- > > It's a new year and I've been blessed with some time to devote to the > project. I already have a script that does this. I am trying to write in some functionality that does the actual repair/delete stuff, but that isn't complete yet. At least you will be able to find the accounts that don't quite match up. I use Mercurial for source management. If you install it, you can pull the devel repo tip and play with the 'cleanup' script (it's in the 'scripts' directory): hg clone http://xerxes.hg.sourceforge.net:8000/hgroot/xerxes/xerxes I also have 'xferquota', which transfers the quota information from one server to another, useful for migrations. If you have any suggestions for additional utils, feel free to make them. -Amin On 01/03/2010 02:25 PM, kreg roenfeldt wrote: > +1 vote for supporting Crypt and other password encryption types. > > Kind of new idea..
